Leagues
The following leagues are planned to run through the season and we have capacity for
more teams in all of the them. If you don’t have others to form a team with, then let us
know on the attached Form of Interests and we will do our best to match you up with
others.
We also have spaces to play in the Tuesday Single Ladder League, Saturday mornings Diamond League, where we only take individual entries as we seed and draw the teams. We also have some spaces in the Wednesday Banbury Super League and the Sapphire League (played alternate weeks).

Sapphire League
The Sapphire League will run on alternate Wednesday evenings (dates to be confirmed) throughout the season. Teams will be drawn once sufficient entries have been made. A link to the online form to sign up is here and there will also be a sign up sheet at Woodgreen on the club's board.
Single Ladder League
From 8pm to 9.45pm on a Tuesday evening there will be a new Singles League played on a ladder basis. Initially players will be placed on the ladder in an upper or lower group, both groups arranged alphabetically by last name. A player can challenge either of the two players ahead of them in the table and if they win they move ahead of that player and everyone below moves down one space.
The matches will be played over 11 ends and those playing will also commit to marking matches as well with an expectation that (depending on numbers) most people will get to play a match and mark a match on an evening.

Roll-Ups
We have three roll ups each week open to members and non-members alike. They are
known as Betty’s Roll Ups and are on:
NEW time* Tuesday at 1.30pm
Wednesday at 2.00pm
Friday at 2.00pm
You should arrive at least 15mins before each session and after buying your ticket at
Reception you should give your session receipt to the organiser of the day in the Bowls Hall
(usually seated at the table as you enter down the steps). You will be randomly placed in a
team. This is intended for all bowlers so don’t worry if you have only just started, you will
find support and encouragement among those you play with. This is also a good way to
meet other club members. The informal roll up which works in exactly the same way is on
Tuesday afternoon.
Competitions
We run a programme of Club Competitions each year.
The categories are :
- Ladies Singles
- Ladies Singles – Never won
- Ladies Pairs
- Ladies Triples
- Men’s Singles
- Men’s Singles – Never Won
- Men’s Pairs
- Men’s Triples
- Open Singles – Over 60’s
- Mixed Pairs
- Mixed Triples
- Mixed Fours
Most of the competitions start in January and so there is plenty of time to get practicing.
You can make your entry on the attached form of interests and there will also be a later
opportunity to also sign up in the Bowls Hall.
Friendly matches with other clubs
We play a good range of other Indoor Bowls Clubs through the season. These are open to
Members only and are both home and away. We try to make sure that all those who sign
up will get a chance during the season. We especially welcome new players in these
matches because they give you a chance to develop your game and gain confidence, as
well as gaining the experience of playing at other clubs.
Charity Matches
We play 3 charity matches each season, one at the beginning of the season, one at
Christmas and one at the end of the season. All bowlers, Members and Non-Members are
welcome to sign-up and take part. Last year we raised £1,000 through these games which
we were able to donate to Katherine House Hospice.
Club Dress
We want to ensure that our sport is accessible for all and so we try to be as flexible as we
can be about dress.
All footwear must be clean, worn only indoors, and be as smooth soled
as possible.
In leagues, friendly matches and competitions we ask all players to wear grey or dark navy
trousers, skirts or shorts and a Club shirt or white top. Club shirts are preferred for friendly
matches and competitions but otherwise a white sports shirt is quite acceptable. If you
would like a club logo on a white shirt of your choice then you can obtain details of how to
do that by emailing our Club Secretary – secretary@banburycrossibc.co.uk
